AppImage is one file, with no dependencies, no support, no tooling, nothing.
A single file that you mark executable: chmod +x $FILE
And that's it.
Seems a lot less work than tarballs to me. I don't like cluttering up
my system with unpackaged software, and if you are happy to unpack
files, move them around, change permissions, etc. then an AppImage is
a lot less work.
But, OK, yes, that is fine, it works, and it's Mozilla's
lowest-common-denominator way. Works on any distro.
