I did this today, as well.

I had been having some problems of late, and the installation of
kernel 5.15.45 caused serious problems -- as in, not being
able to boot properly, no drivers loading, no networking. A mess.

Luckily I kept a backup. I restored it and tried again.

Same result.

So long as I booted into kernel 5.13 or 5.15.43 it was OK.

I tried the Jammy update on it too, but it failed to install and when
finished I still had 20.04. Very odd.

But kernel 5.15.46 for 20.04 seemed to fix this, so today, I updated
my main copy and the backup, and then ran `do-release-upgrade -d` to
Jammy Jellyfish.

It went through smoothly this time and it seems to work fine.

TBH, on my small i5 travel laptop, I wish I'd never updated past that.

Oh, it worked then? Great!
