Query about problem with updating software

Hi Bret,

I'm running Ubuntu 20.04.4 LTS x86_64 on the computer I am typing this on.

I did some digging around. Software Updater is in fact a Python3 script.
You can read the source code with this command:
$ less /usr/bin/update-manager

It is "only" 119 lines long on my system.

I used the which command to locate update-manager and the file command to
determine what kind of file it is.

I am interested in what people have to say about your actual question,
though.

HTH in a roundabout way,

Ian
