Can I suggest that you use the phone as a wifi hotspot instead of
tethering it? If that's an option of course.

Tethering via usb-cable should work more efficiently (and more safe) than via WiFi (private hotspot)

Only disadvantage is, that it requires a free usb-port. Side advantage is that your phone-accu will be recharged as well.
