Slightly customizing a bootable live USB?

I totally misread your question the first time around, so my first
answer was completely wrong. If you just want to add a couple of
programs to the USB stick, you should be able to just put them onto
the USB stick next to the ISO. We've done that successfully in the
past and unless something has changed, it should still work.
