Hi Joel,
Could you list the output of these two commands from the Bionic Beaver
workstations and your Daughter's workstation?
uname -a
lsb_release -a
Do you have the lsb package installed? It might be needed. According to
Synaptic:-
*"The Linux Standard Base (http://www.linuxbase.org/
<http://www.linuxbase.org/>) is a standardcore system that third-party
applications written for Linux candepend upon. This package provides an
implementation of only the printing and coremodules of the Linux Standard
Base for Ubuntu. Recent versions of Ubuntudo not implement the full LSB
interfaces; this package is provided only forcompatibility with third-party
printer driver packages which depend on thelsb package. The intent of this
package is to provide a best current practice wayof installing and running
LSB packages on Debian GNU/Linux. Its presencedoes not imply that Ubuntu
fully complies with the Linux Standard Base, and should not be construed as
a statement that Ubuntu is LSB-compliant."*
Whilst playing around with two donated old Epson printer/scanners, I found
that one of them installed perfectly without any extra software being
required. The other one would not install but, after I installed package
lsb, it installed perfectly.
HTH,
Ian
