full access to ext4 files/dirs from win 7?

Now using Kub 20.04, but unable to have full access to ext4 files/dirs
from win 7. Seems like a permissions problem. I can see them but not
write or create dirs, etc. Means I can't edit files directly and save
them. The best sounding solution I found on the net is to use an NTFS
disk that both comps can access and use that to transfer files. Also
saw win SW that claims to do that but unclear if those are safe to use.
Is there a way to do that directly? Is it just a permissions problem I
didn't set up correctly?
