Short-keys to switch workspaces?

If you can get at them via the keyboard or the mouse, then AutoKey
can help you to get at them. It's an automation utility that's in the
Ubuntu repositories and there are GTK and Qt versions available.

It's fully customizable and you can use it to define (script)  pretty
much any behaviors you can think of for your computer and trigger
them with hotkeys or abbreviations (typed phrases).

Its main website on the https://github.com/autokey/autokey page. The
"Wiki" link at the top of that page takes you to plenty of
documentation. The "Community" link in the wiki's menu leads you to a
list of various ways to interact socially with the developers and
others (myself included) who use the software and can help with any
questions or suggestions if you run into any trouble or just need
some help.

If you've never tried it, you're in for a treat.
