Thank you Bo for your reply.
I had tried that but I hadn't come across the link that you posted. My
copy of Windows shows an "advanced options" but there are only six other
options and nothing to do with UEFI.
Anyway, it's all academic now. I am thoroughly fed up with getting
Window and Linux to coexist on my SSD even though I had no trouble at
all achieving the same on an old mechanical drive. I now have Linux only
on my SSD and that's the way it's going to stay.
I thank everyone for their responses to my tiresome questions.
