I have a Dell XPS17 and experience the same problem of no sound since I first
installed ubuntu some 2 years ago.
I just installed Ubuntu 21.10, no sound, although starting from a stick, I had.
Finally I found out, that from a former attempt to fix the problem I had in the
file:
|/etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf|
|I had the line:|
|options snd-hda-intel dmic_detect=0 As soon as i commented this line out, sound
was back |
