You might need to try this instead so that neofetch runs in the
background and frees up the terminal:

neofetch &

Another way that it can be done that will launch neofetch every time a
terminal is opened by any means. What you do is add the neofetch
command to the bottom of your ~/.bashrc file, but back up
the .bashrc file first.
