What to do with OLD nvidia

I have generally NOT used nvidia's driver with the nvidia video chipset and 
instead used the vanila/default X11 video driver modules.  OTOH, I don't do 
any intensive video/X11 stuff (eg real-time 3D modeling, etc.).  Generally 
works OK (for what I do).
