Thunderbird is causing my laptop to run hot

I have done pretty much the same, and I'm using Tbird on all my systems,
but particularly on the desktop where it runs all the time, doing its
job of despamming and then filtering the remainder into different
folders. It doesn't crash or complain, so I'm happy with it.

I have a few XUL plugins, especially Enigmail and Mail Redirect, which
are essential in my work. The interface is not fault-free: the location
of the Delete button in the per-message toolbar CHANGES depending on
whether the display is showing a single message or a thread, which is
crazy; and there is still no RETHREAD function (# and & in Mutt), but
otherwise it just works.
