Firstly, I would not, and, do not, leave Thunderbird running, when not
immediately checking or working on email. I have too many bad
experiences of the scripting errors in Thunderbird, both causing the
system to hang, and, crashing the system.

With both Thunderbird and firefox, the greatest problem is in the
scripting, which takes them both into the realm of the version of
Debian, named Sid (or, even, the version named experimental).

So, I run Thunderbird, to check email, from time to time, and, to
reply to some email, and, otherwise, leave it closed. It is too
dangerous to leave open, due to its instability, and the resultant
destructive effects on the rest of the system.

Secondly, in case you are not aware, at least two Thunderbird mailing
lists exist, of which I am aware, and, the one that I recommend, is at
https://groups.io/g/ThunderbirdEmail
so, I suggest that you investigate the possibility of using that mailing list
