How confident are you with downloading an .iso file and correctly writing
it to CD or a USB flash drive / memory stick ? And then booting your
computer with the CD/USB flash drive/ memory stick?

To completely wipe a hard disk drive II use dban -- downloaded from
https://dban.org/

If all I wanted to do was to delete all the partitions on a drive and
create a new partition table on it, I would use gparted -
https://gparted.org/
