FWIW 'visudo' doesn't force to use 'vi'/'ex'. A user can set the EDITOR
variable, e.g. by using the login shell's configuration file.

# grep EDITOR ~/.bashrc
export EDITOR="nano"

On my machine 'visudo' does invoke 'nano', instead of 'vi'/'ex'.
