Ubuntu 20.04 - Headset mic not working

There does appear to be a major bug between Bluetooth and the sound 
system in many distros. In some cases the headset works and it will play 
through the headphones, but fail completely to recognise the microphone. 
In other cases, BT recognises the headset by fails to pass that 
information to the sound system, so neither input nor output are shown. 
I have replicated this many times on different distributions, but as I 
don't know which component is at fault, I can't report it.
