I am sure that only the screensaver on the machine displaying the
terminal can blank that display. I cannot see any way that the
screensaver on a remote machine could blank the display on the local
machine, when running a normal ssh session. If your whole display
blanked when running ssh then it was the local screensaver that did
it.
