Is Gparted not available via a VNC session?

I have two laptops which are running on my network with Ubuntu Mate 20.04.3
Desktop.
I connect to them using RealVNC from my Windows 10 box when I need to do some
GUI related stuff there.
Now I wanted to check up on the disk state so I connected with VNC and tried to
start GParted from the Mate menu, but it does not appear, it seems like it just
dies when being started.
I have tried starting it from the Terminal too by entering command gparted,
which should bring the GUI application in view but that does also not work.
This is what happens in the terminal:
$ gparted
Error executing command as another user: No authentication agent found.
So I tried this instead:
$ sudo gparted
Unit tmp.mount does not exist, proceeding anyway.
No protocol specified
Unable to init server: Could not connect: Connection refused
(gpartedbin:240870): Gtk-WARNING **: 13:34:07.447: cannot open display: :1
Why does this happen and what can I do about it?
Obviously I am logged in otherwise I should not be able to do anything at all,
right?
I can do sudo apt update without any issues for example. It seems to just be
Gparted which is acting up.
