Yes, I've heard of Recoll. But I want Gnome integration, so I'm trying
Tracker first.

However, Tracker doesn't seem to work very well. When I did "tracker status"
a view minutes ago, it told me that it would take more than five days (!)
for the indexing to complete. Now I tried again and got an error message:

-----
desktop ~ $ LANG=C tracker status
Currently indexed: 1775532 files, 58275 folders
Remaining space on database partition: 349.3?GB (35.56%)

(tracker status:10680): Tracker-CRITICAL **: 07:09:40.760: Could not get
miner progress for 'org.freedesktop.Tracker1.Miner.Extract': Timeout was
reached
Data is still being indexed: Estimated less than one second left

Looks like I have to try Recoll next...

Thanks for the tip!

Cheers,
Volker
