Thanks for your reply, Little Girl!
I know that I can set domain name by editing /tétc/hosts.
But I am not about setting the domain name statically. I am about obeying
domain name setting from DHCP.
That is: when I plug my laptop into the network at .example.com, hostname -f
should give me "host.example.com" When I plug it into somewhere.edu, it should
give me "host.somewhere.edu"
Point is, ubuntu is ignoring the domain name sent by the DHCP server.
