mount error "No route to host"

I have a laptop (host name mars) with two Ubuntu boot partitions. I have an
ASUSTOR raid file server (host name bestia) I want to use to store backup data.
One partition is for noraml use and the other for testing and other uses.
Using my normal Ubunto boot partition I can mount a directory tree from bestia
into my mars home directory and create a backup file. Using the Ubuntu test
partition that same mount command gets the "No route to host" error message.

robert at MARS:~$ sudo mount -t cifs //bestia/sharedfolder/
/home/robert/sambashare -o username=robert,password=******** -o uid=1000
[sudo] password for robert:
mount: /home/robert/sambashare: mount(2) system call failed: No route to host.

Both devices have the same user "robert" but with different password. I can
ping bestia from both boot partitions. I looked at mount(2) but did not see
anything useful.

I assume it is a configuration problem, How to resolve this?
