CCTV

Hi all,

I have an interest in setting up CCTV motion detection recording on my
home server. I have a spare, identical mainboard and hard drives that I
can experiment with.

The simpler the better, I've been having a look at motion. I'd really
like it to work like my car dashcams, keeping recordings for, say, two
months before deleting them.

Can anybody already using CCTV please advise if motion does what I
would like, and what cameras they use please? An Ethernet cable
connected camera would be good as I can place it on the outside of the
wall where the server is located.
