Two things have occurred to me, after having struggled through about
the seven or eight hours that it took to perform the clean install.
1. The problem may be that, despite the error messages displayed,
including those shown in the screenshots that I posted, the problem
may lay in the servers being under too great a load, for the
installation software to cope with the delays, given that less than a
week (I think) has now passed since the announcement of the release of
21.04 was posted, with, with all of the users that Ubuntu has, users
rushing to get the new version installed, and this is exacerbated by
the Software package that is used to install the additional packages
that are not included in the default system installation, being unable
to cope with the delays in downloading the packages.
2. The Software package used that is linked from the Welcome screen,
to add packages to the default system installation packages, is a heap
of ...., especially both with it requiring a new superuser login after
installing each single package, or each two packages, requiring about
twenty superuser logins, to install about 31 packages, and this is
exacerbated by, when completing the installation of one package, it
then takes about two to three minutes, each time, to wander of and try
to remember where it put the superuser login screen, and the,, after
it finds where it put the screen, then to put it up again, to obstruct
the installation process, adding, in itself, another hour or so to the
installation procedure, through that defect.
One thing that would have made the process less unpalatable, would
have been to include synaptic in the default installation program, and
avoid the use of the obstructive Software or Software Boutique or
whatever @#%$ thing that is in the Welcome screen, that is supposed to
provide for installing additional software that is not included in the
default system installation.
Performing a clean installation was not so messy, complicated, and
obstructive, when the gnome Software Centre of old, was used.
The package that is linked for installing additional software to the
default installation, needs to be replaced, with something useful,
like synaptic.
