I just use dd to copy ISOs to thumb drives or ARM SBC (for 'Pis and Beagles)
images to mSD cards.  I have never seen the point in a "fancy" GUI for this 
purpose, but guess, some people are just not able to use more than one finger 
to run programs -- eg, if they can't point at and click on an icon, they 
cannot run it.

OTOH, I built a cross compiler (host ARM Linux, target bare ARM MCU) on a Pi 2 
and it took the better part of *3 whole days*.
