speeding up hard drive wipe

I'm sure this was probably mentioned earlier in the thread, but if
you're wiping a lot of hard drives at once (using pcie sata expansion
cards for example) you may want to check the hard drives before wiping
to see if it's close to failing or contains a lot of bad sectors. A
drive with a lot of bad sectors will take a lot longer to wipe. (We
usually save those drives for last when wiping in large batches).

We check drives using Gsmartcontrol, then wipe using Darik's Boot and
Nuke (dban.org).

For SSD's we use Parted Magic (which has a small price, but is decent).

We saved a lot of time by spending a few minutes testing them before wiping...
