Not able to format a 4TB drive on ubuntu

Hi All,

This is a shot in the dark but... what kind of partition table does the 4TB
drive have? I believe the "traditional" partition table format cannot
handle drives this big.

I did some searching and found:-
*"In other words, 4TB HDD can be used in Windows in some conditions.
According to Microsoft, in order for an operating system to fully support
storage devices that have capacities that exceed 2TB, the device must be
initialized by using GUID partition table (GPT)."*

I think the above advice applies to Linux as well.

I use GPartEd rather than the command line and I believe you can create a
GPT using that.

Also: for this info, I searched for this on Google "what partition table
for 4tb drive"

HTH,

Ian
