systemd-journal consume a lot of memory

I have two virtual hosts, both are ubuntu 18.04 x86_64.

I saw the process "systemd-journal" consumes a lot of memory from the
output of "top".

Can you suggest how to optimize it? can I just kill this process?

Thanks.
