Files and folders in HOME are appearing on the desktop

Thank you very much.

That was easy.  user-dirs.dirs must have been one of the files deleted because
all of the directories were set to $HOME/.

Did you ever notice: When you put the 2 words ' The'   and ' IRS ' together it spells   'Theirs...'
