Any particular reason, since 20.04 is now out?
I'd always go for the current LTS if I had a choice.

Yes.
If you run the official version and if you're paying for support, you
get it for longer.
If you're running a remix then after the GUI components of that remix
go out of support, then you don't get updates. Only the core shared
with the main official version will get support and updates.
If you are not paying for support, then it becomes a little academic.
But in theory, for example, if you were running Lubuntu, you would not
get updates for the LXQt parts, only for the underlying OS.
I still run Unity myself and there won't be any more major versions,
but for now, I am fine with that. It is in 20.04.
If or when it is no longer included in a future LTS, my plan is to
move to XFCE. It's the only mature, complete Windows-like desktop for
Linux that includes a working vertical taskbar. (LXQt does, but it is
unfinished and IMHO it shows.)
If I was running, say, Xubuntu 22.04, then I would not worry too much
about whether XFCE was supported after 2024 because I would upgrade to
Xubuntu 24.04 at least after 24.04.01 or 24.04.02 came out.
Life is easier if you keep to the most recent LTS.
Intentionally choosing an obsolete LTS seems like a very odd decision to me.
