Upon further review/analysis of the syslog files I discovered a large
number of timeout messages from the mouse. I had also noticed the the
mouse was unresponsive whenever system would not respond.

So I re-seated the dongle for my wireless mouse into a different usb
port. The system has been stable since that time:

  06:35:37 up 1 day, 16:19,  1 user,  load average: 1.41, 1.12, 1.02

Thanks for all the information, and support.

Regards,

Jay
