that is what I was implicitly giving for granted, but not what other
answers in this thread say. What then? I am confused...
As for ports: The enclosure I bought and the enclosed usb cable are
declared usb3.0. I connected the drive to a computer with a usb 2
port, and another with usb 3, and had the same result.
I could put that drive in another enclosure I have, but it takes time:
I have to go get it (it's not at home), before removing the disk it
has inside and attaching this new one.
Would it make sense to try fdisk anyway, before being able to place
the drive in another enclosure? (because that is something I could try
right after lunch, but will do only if it's not useless).
