I can't even _imagine_ any interaction between Clonezilla and resume
from sleep, but you never know.

(?)

It's a free download from Microsoft.com.

https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/software-download/windows10ISO

All you need is a key; extract it from your original installation with Produkey.

https://www.nirsoft.net/utils/product_cd_key_viewer.html

You don't need to spend a penny.

I do have one, but I don't recall using one.

(?) But you are posting from Gmail. Gmail is a webmail service:
nothing needs to be set up.

You download it from here:
https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/cz/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-t-series-laptops/thinkpad-t420/downloads/ds018785

Then you run the updater under Windows, or download the bootable CD
image, write it to CD, and boot off it.

I found this as the first hit Googling "lenovo thinkpad t420 bios".
Google autocompleted the work "Thinkpad" for me so I did not have to
type the longest word.

I am sorry and I do not mean to be rude, but I do not understand a
single one of the objections you list.

* You don't need to buy Win10
* You don't need an MS account to get the BIOS
* You don't need email installed or working on Windows if you have Gmail
* You don't _need_ Windows installed at all
* Cloning a disk should not in any way affect resume from sleep
