It's a GNOME extension that provides a menu somewhat similar to the
one Ubuntu used to have. It makes GNOME 3 look positively delicious
to those of us who prefer the old-school way of interacting with our
computers:

When used in combination with a couple of other extensions, it's a
way to make current Ubuntu behave something like former Ubuntu with a
menu and panel reminiscent of the one in Windows or on Cinnamon
desktop.

I may have to give this a try, although it looks like it still needs
to mature in a few ways to make it fully customizable. I'll be
switching back to Kubuntu from Ubuntu MATE this April when the new
LTS comes out, but the extensions above would make Ubuntu an
acceptable fail-safe to fall back on (for us old-schoolers) in the
event that Kubuntu is ever completely wiped out.
