Another possibility is to use Recoll, an excellent index/search tool.
Install it, let it index, then find the word. It also shows several
lines in the file to give context. It also knows how to decode many
file types automatically - not a problem with most coded files. I have
hundreds of thousands of many different types of files indexed, and get
a result in several seconds. And, you can do quite sophisticated
multi-word searches too - it's a mini-google for your box. :-)
