I only just noticed that the 'date' command has a new default in
Ubuntu. Maybe an upstream cause, but I'm a 24h clock person, I don't
like the AM and PM thing.
old style: Fri Jun 12 10:44:45 EDT 2020
new style: Fri 12 Jun 2020 10:43:51 AM EDT
the old style can be retrieved with
date +"%a %b %d %H:%M:%S %Z %Y"
It seem this page, way back from 2009, describes how to do it
https://ccollins.wordpress.com/2009/01/06/how-to-change-date-formats-on-ubuntu/
