the date command

I only just noticed that the 'date' command has a new default in 
Ubuntu.  Maybe an upstream cause, but I'm a 24h clock person, I don't 
like the AM and PM thing.

old style:      Fri Jun 12 10:44:45 EDT 2020
new style:    Fri 12 Jun 2020 10:43:51 AM EDT

the old style can be retrieved with

        date +"%a %b %d %H:%M:%S %Z %Y"
