Ubuntu server subiquity autoinstall

I made a file /cdrom/nocloud/user-data with my basic yaml data.
added the txt.cfg entry for nocloud - I see this menu item when I boot.

  append  initrd=/casper/initrd ds="nocloud;s=/cdrom/nocloud/" quiet splash
biosdevname=0 net.ifnames=0 ---

Made no difference.
