External touchpad for Ubuntu?

For what it's worth, I have a Dell laptop. Turn off the track pad in
settings; touch screen still works; plug in my drawing tablet, works. Not
an external TouchPad but same drivers I think.
If you need to toggle the built in then you'll have to configure it
