Recommendation for a scanner?

That was a good tip! I've found several candidates, both document scanners
and a flat-bed/document scanner combination. (I may well end up buying
separate flat-bed and document scanners.)

The devices aren't mentioned in the SANE devices list, but the website says
that Fujitsu provides Linux drivers for SANE.

I've not made up my mind completely yet, but it may well be the Fujitsu SP-
1425.
