Hello Everyone,
We've been having a very difficult time getting Wake-On-LAN (from suspend, specifically) functionality working with our Dell WD-19 USB-C docks and Latitude 5501 laptops. We have it enabled in the BIOS, and it does work when Ethernet is connected to the internal port, but it doesn't work from the docks port, which I've determined to be using the kernel's r8152 driver.
The BIOS is setup to share the MAC address of the internal NIC port with the dock when docks are connected.
I've tried a variety of troubleshooting steps so far. One was to check with ethtool that WoL is enabled. It shows that it's enabled there. Another was to check the kernel wake settings for the device and see if it's enabled there. Even after enabling it there, it still won't respond to WoL from suspend.
In doing some research, I tried the official Realtek driver, both from their site and from here: https://github.com/wget/realtek-r8152-linux, and specifically compiled in WoL given their directions. It still doesn't work.
This has all been attempted on an Ubuntu 20.04 installation.
Can anyone verify if the upstream driver does indeed support WoL? I'm at a loss as to what to try next.
Thanks in advance for any help.
