Enable soundcard?

Do the speakers also produce the ticking sound, if you are in another
room without a computer in this room, 1. while nothing is connected to
the speaker's amp and 2. while anything else, but a computer is
connected? If possible test with different cables.

If you own a smart phone or any kind of audio recorder, then record the
"ticking sound" and post a link to a download to the mailing list. If
you can't upload the recording somewhere, send it off-list to the email
address I'm using for this mailing list. Change the subject to
"[off-list] Re: Enable soundcard?", please use a reply button of
your mailer, to keep the thread, just delete
"ubuntu-users at lists.ubuntu.com" from the recipients.
