A question about groups

While I don't get such a notification when running

  sudo apt-get source mplayer

on Ubuntu 16.04.6 LTS, I wonder why using 'sudo' at all. It's a source,
nothing requires root privileges, since nothing actually gets installed.
I guess nobody wants to compile with root privileges. Compiling should
always be done without administrative privileges.

Just running

  apt-get source mplayer

works on Ubuntu 16.04.6 LTS and should do the job on other releases,
too.
