If dependencies are not needed for another package, too, you could
remove the dev packages + their dependencies. If another package should
need a dependency required by one or the other dev packge, too, you
shouldn't be able to remove those dependencies, resp. ppa-purge should
replace the needed dependencies or at least --fix-broken should fix a
broken install later.

However, consider to backup the complete install first. To do that, you
need to shutdown and e.g. run

sudo cp -ai /mnt/point_of_the_install/ /mnt/point_of_the_copy/

from e.g. an Ubuntu live DVD.
