For reasons I can not fathom, I can now mount the card.  However when I try
to boot from it it is not listed in bios boot.

I found another card and installed 18.04 budgie on it.  Bios does not see
it either.

Since Ubuntu can now read and write to it I am beginning to think it is a
hardware issue or something to do with my computer.
