Ask around in your local (not global) community. You'll almost
certainly get a free 2.4GHz wifi dongle; they are that cheap.

Once configured, it stays configured and Linux will just use it all the
time. No user interaction is required. If theft is the problem, then
with a freebie just glue the dongle in place.
