hello all,

first of all, a correction: in my earlier messages, I said I had tried
with both the VGA and HDMI connectors, but I was wrong. Replace HDMI
with DVI in all the places I said that, sorry.

This said, it does not seem to make any difference. We just had a
possibility to plug the broken monitor into a laptop running Windows
10, this time **with** the HDMI cable, and the result is exactly the
same. Which is NOT "missing a color" across the whole screen, as
someone said: ONLY the leftmost vertical third of the screen has very
tiny horizontal lines, about 1mm from each other, and looks like seen
through a very light green filter.

Watching anime on it is no problem, and you don't notice the defect
unless you already know it. But it is definitely a problem when
reading or writing text for long times. Also, from outside both the
connectors of the cables I used, and all the monitor inputs (VGA ,
HDMI and DVI) look perfect, no mechanical defect or corrosion.

My conclusion: this is certainly some electrical defect inside
(corroded or aged components), and I will check as suggested on repair
forums (off-list links to such forums are welcome!!!), to get experts
opinions whether this is repairable/worth repairing or not.

Luckily, I have managed to get another monitor almost the same size,
which works but needs extra configuration which I will expose in
another thread.

Thanks again to all who participated, one always learns something in
these occasions.
