Dear Everybody at the list.

This is a trial message to check whether I did manage to get subscribed again
to "Ubuntu Users". Let me know wheather you receive this message via the list.

Today, I managed to connect my "JBL Clip 3" Bluetooth speaker to *Ubuntu
18.04 LTS - after many, many, many :-) fruitless attempts......

After a bit of research, I stumbled on this answer at "Ask Ubuntu":

https://askubuntu.com/a/1069401

Reportedly, *Ubuntu 18.04 LTS ships with a "buggy" version of the package
"Bluez". At a repository, there is a newer version of "Bluez" that is intended
for integration in future versions of *Ubuntu. That's why, I have done this:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:bluetooth/bluez
sudo apt install bluez
sudo update
sudo dist-upgrade
sudo reboot now

After the reboot, I klicked at the bluetooth button, after which I scanned for
devices. Then, the system identified my "JBL Clip 3".

Probably, this will help also others.

Yours.
Bas G. Roufs.
