You are not giving us enough info, and not detailing what
troubleshooting you have tried.

E.g. on Wayland it is normal for graphical sudo apps not to work.

By "Ubuntu" you mean GNOME?

Xubuntu is just Ubuntu with XFCE. They are not different things.
