this time I was looking for an ebook reader, not a laptop. For the record, I ended up with a Kobo Clara HD, which has been very appreciated, but does not show as such in Calibre. I only get a generic "device" into which I can dump epub files. That must be some non-Calibre, USB-related general problem in my linux install, though, sometimes I play too much with it for my own good
