While this is certainly a more elegant solution, I do have a 
philosophical issue with it: I've been bitten by people thinking stuff 
was being backed up when it wasn't.  For backups, I prefer to have to 
explicitly exclude stuff rather than explicitly include it after the 
fact -- and possibly find out something had been overlooked.  (I *do* 
wish there were
